Around the corner I have a friend, in this great city that has no end.
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, and before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face, for life is a swift a terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well, as in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then, and now we are busy, tired men.

Tired of playing a foolish game, Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim, just to show that I'm thinking of him".
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, and distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away, "Here's a telegram sir,". "Jim died today".
And that's what we get and deserve in the end, around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and
family,
for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

Lesley Hampton (Pops Niece)
I’m sorry to have to let you know that Cliff passed away Sunday 24 September 2023 13-30.
I would appreciate if you could tell any of the old boys you may be in contact with.
I will let you know when the funeral arrangements have been made.
It was sad news we received today of the passing away of
Cliff (POP)Steele who slipped from us Sunday gone after a short illness.
A most respected member of the Goldings Staff who came to us from the North East like a lot of the lads did. He told me when he
came for the interview for Goldings (the Headmaster) Mr Wheatley asked me if I could play Cricket, and I told him I played Cricket
to a good standard in the North East, so that day I played for Goldings, and I think it sealed my interview.
How lucky we were? He came in 1956 and remained till the end 1967
A book of condolences will be available at our re-union, as he was a strong supporter of the event, and ever present till recently due
to ill health.
Pop probably was the last member of staff remaining

15-12-2019 We lost David Wheatley our headmaster Mr Wheatley son
Dear Dave,
Sadly, David died of bronchial pneumonia on Sunday after a 3-week battle with the illness.
We are all devastated. I am heartbroken – he was my rock and loving friend, All his loved ones were with him when he died
and we are grieving a warm, kind and generous man.
The funeral date is not known yet. Probably near the end of January. I will, of course, let you know.
David has requested that his ashes be scattered at the site of the cricket ground at Golding’s.
He loved the reunions and felt that he was reunited with a second family. I would be grateful if you would inform the Old Boys
and give them my love.
Kind Regards,
Carolyn Eley (Wheatley)

Dear Mr Blower,
I have the sad duty to write and inform you that my father,
Mr Leslie Lack 2016 died last year. I would be grateful if you could update your records accordingly.
My father wrote an wonderful account of his childhood some fifteen years ago. In it he records in great detail his life at the school, which was considerably
different to his prior experience growing up with foster parents in Suffolk. It is clear he was grateful for the learning opportunities which Goldings provided,
even though he was only at the School for a short time in 1941. I know he was pleased to have revisited the school site.
Andrew Lack (Son) I hope your planned reunion goes well.

Letter received today 10-8-17 ref

for the super husband they made for me!
Best Wishes, Jacqui Snowden
