HI DAVE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ON THE TRYING TO FIND PAGE AND SPOTTED TWO NAMES I REMEMBER. PERCY MILLS WHO DROVE THE SCHOOL LORRY WHICH WAS GARAGED NEAR THE TINSMITHS SHOP, AND EVERY MORNING WHEN WE ARRIVED AT SHOP HE WOULD BE HAVING CHAT WITH HAROLD DeBOECK THE SHOP MASTER. I WENT WITH HIM A FEW TIMES FROM GOLDINGS TO BOYS GARDEN CITY WOODFORD TO VISIT MY YOUNG BROTHER. I HOPE HIS GRAND SON READS THIS AS I FOUND HIM TO BE A VERY FRIENDLY GENTLEMAN PS. I HAVE MENTIONED HIM IN MY HISTORY OF GOLDINGS ANDREW ORELLO. THE OTHER NAME THAT CAME TO MIND WAS JOSE ORELLO HE CAME FROM SPAIN PROBABLY ABOUT THE TIME OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR, HE WAS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALLER AND SCORED MANY GOALS FOR THE SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM. JOHN HORN. 1942-45
Peter Mills found lots of lads who remembered his grandfather from their time at Goldings (John Horn, Jimmy James, John Hunt) all remembered Percy Mills
A nice touch at this years reunion 2010, Bill Roe who's best mate at Goldings was Ernie Dawson, his son has been in touch to contact Bill and send him a picture from Corris House (this was the home they were both in before Goldings) as Ernie passed away in 1990, Bill got in touch with Barnardo's for information on him but they felt they could not put him in touch with Ernie's family, so it dried up! but all Bill wanted to do was to pay his last respects to him, it now seems it has come to a happy conclusion via the site. Bill met up with his old friend Ernie Dawson’s 2 sons Mark and Andy at the reunion then Mark and Andy took Bill with his son Frank to pay his respects, to Ernie his best friend.
