(1884-1950)

Wheelwright / Carpentry teacher at the school.

Then to become Duty Officer of the Carpenters
Shop.

Worked at The William Baker Technical School
“Goldings” for 25 years, before his retirement in 1948.

When I first started you were taught by a Mr Disney, known to us as "Pop"Dis
This gentleman had a bad leg so had a special made up boot. When you had exasperated
Mr Disney long enough you then went to the main Carpenters shop under Mr Howel(Pop) to us.
Mr Bishop was in charge of the shop and Mr Tempest the Cabinet makers.

The name of “Pop” was given by the boys to popular Staff .

BELOW IS THE CARD GIVEN TO MEMBERS OF Dr. BARNARDOS STAFF,
THE BOYS ALSO WERE ISSUED WITH AN INDEX CARD.

(the coach builders, not the cars!): 

The Adler Car with Morgan coach-work was a
very high end product in its day and some of the
later bodies were crafted in wood by Mr Disney -
he brought those skills to Goldings School.
