House Notes
Housemaster: Mr. C. Steele House Captain: David Langler Group Leaders: Derek Hammond, Christopher Florence Colours: Green and Yellow Once again it is time to look back into our diaries to remind us of the activities we have had this term. Firstly I should like to welcome the following six boys not only to Pelham House but also to Goldings and hope their stay will be a happy one. Kevin Man (who joins his two brothers in Pelham), Kenneth Stephens, Brian Stephens, David Powell Robert Unwin, and John Robson. We are sorry to have to say goodbye to Peter Law who was our cricket team captain. We all wish him the best of luck in the future and a most successful career. Last term Pelham managed to win back the most coveted trophy in the School, the Queens' Cup. This term's competition is wide open and at the time of writing only a few points separate Pelham, Aberdeen, and Somerset, any one of three houses can carry off the trophy. In the cricket Inter House competition both Pelham juniors and seniors got into the finals. The juniors were beaten by Aberdeen juniors but the Seniors won their section by beating Cairns in an exciting game. We did very badly in the Inter House swimming but we managed to win two events. Charlie Hill won the springboard dive and David Langler won the high dive. We did much better in the athletics. After a hard struggle Pelham juniors just failed to beat MacAndrew for first place. Congratulations to Gordon White on not only winning the Victor Ludorum but for gaining half of the junior points! Well done Gordon and hard luck juniors. The Inter House football hasn't really started yet but we have had three juniors in the junior 'A' School team; Ray Hillier (Capt.), Raymond Man, and David Abdi In the Senior 'A' team we are very well represented by David Langler, Derek Hammond, Ray Hillier, Stephen Howard, Charlie Hill, Dennis Ager, and Billy Campbell Quite a few Pelham boys received prizes at Prize giving Day namely David Langler, Senior Painter; Derek Hammond, General Standard; Joey Law, junior Painters; Michael Butt, Senior Bootmakers; Raymond Man, Intermediate Gardeners; and Christopher Florence, Senior Gardeners. I should like to finish these notes by wishing Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley and all the staff and boys a very
happy Christmas. David Langler
